The story

Perwaghagh Falls is a clear-water waterfall on the Chata River in Fatka panchayat, Torpa block, Khunti district, about 40 km from Khunti. Perwa means pigeon and ghagh means home, and many people still believe pigeons live inside the fall.

The approach road runs through forest with glimpses of the hills, and the last stretch has to be walked over rough ground. The setting is scenic, and the falls are a popular picnic spot, with small rowing boats available for rides. The wider district is hilly and wooded, and two places linked to Birsa Munda, his birthplace Ulihatu and Dombari Buru, also lie in this area.
