The story

Maa Pathrol Kali Temple is a Hindu shrine to the goddess Kali, roughly 7 km from Madhupur town in the Deoghar area of Jharkhand. It counts among the oldest and most sacred temples in Madhupur, and is said to have been built by Raja Digvijay Singh about six to seven centuries ago.

Nine further temples stand close to the main one. Worship takes place on every day of the week, and animal sacrifice is part of it. The great gathering of the year is an annual fair in the month of Kartik, around October or November, when pilgrims come in very large numbers.
