The story

The Indira Gandhi Planetarium in Patna, known locally as Taramandal, meaning circle of stars, is described as one of the oldest and largest planetariums in Asia. The building itself is shaped like the planet Saturn.

Its main auditorium seats 276 people beneath a large domed screen, onto which a projection system throws simulations of the night sky, planets and other bodies, backed by surround sound. Film shows and exhibitions on astronomy run here, and a separate space is used for conferences, seminars, workshops and other large events.
