01 — The story

The story

Ramnagar Wildlife Sanctuary covers forested hills and valleys in the Patnitop area of Jammu, crossed by small streams. Its vegetation ranges from dense evergreen forest to open grassland. Pine, deodar and cedar form the main canopy, with shrubs, ferns and wildflowers growing beneath, and walking paths wind through the woods.

Mammals recorded here include the leopard, the Himalayan black bear and the barking deer. The sanctuary is also known for its birdlife: the Himalayan monal, the koklass pheasant and the Himalayan woodpecker are among the species found across its different habitats.
