The story

Sudh Mahadev is a Shiva temple in the Patnitop area of Jammu, at about 1,225 m above sea level, and is said to have a history of more than 2,800 years. Its central image is a black marble idol of Shiva shown with Parvati and Nandi, and the site looks out over the hills on every side.

The temple also keeps a trident (trishul) and a mace (gada) that tradition associates with Bheema of the Mahabharata. Close by is the Pap Nashni Bowli, a spring whose water is believed to purify, and pilgrims make use of it as part of their visit.
