The story

Naag Mandir is a hilltop temple in the Patnitop area dedicated to Naag Devta, the serpent god. The shrine is built with detailed woodwork and is said to be more than 600 years old. Pine trees and snow-capped peaks surround it, and local folklore holds that Shiva and Parvati may have married here.

Devotees come through the year, in the largest numbers during the Naag Panchami festival. A common practice is to tie a red thread around a finger while praying to Naag Devta, in the hope that a wish will be granted. The temple also runs a langar, a community kitchen that serves free meals to every visitor.
