Montang Valley, also called the Mountain of Peace, is a village in the Atharamura Hills of Khowai district, Tripura, under the Teliamura sub-division. It sits roughly 80 km from Agartala and about 30 km off National Highway 8 near Teliamura, and it is known for its scenery and the clouds that float through the valley.
Its life as a destination is recent. Journalist and filmmaker Kamal Kalai, who later entered politics, explored the valley in 2016 and drew up plans to open it to visitors. After he became an Executive Member of the TTAADC in 2021, funds under the Pradhan Mantri Gram Sadak Yojana paid for roads linking the highway to Montang, and a tong ghar, a traditional tribal house, was put up there. Photographs he shared online spread widely, and the valley soon became a busy stop for tourists and nature lovers.
