The story

Chaturdasha Temple in Agartala, Tripura, honours a group of fourteen deities known together as the Chaturdasha Devata. King Krishna Manikya of Tripura built it in 1760, the year Agartala became the capital.

Its dome follows the Tripuri style, shaped after the roofs of village huts in the region, and is crowned by a stupa-like finial that hints at Buddhist influence. Devotees come here for the Kharchi festival. In May 2023 the state government began refurbishing the temple together with the surrounding capital complex.
