The story

The Guru Tegh Bahadur Museum in the centre of Anandpur Sahib, Rupnagar district, was built in 1983 in honour of the ninth Sikh Guru, one of the most revered martyrs of the faith. It tells his life story and the trials he faced, using exhibits, paintings and artefacts that stress his stand for freedom of belief and justice.

Dioramas and portraits recreate the key moments of his life, especially his opposition to religious persecution and the sacrifice he made to defend the beliefs and rights of other people. Takht Sri Kesgarh Sahib, among the five Sikh Takhts, is a short walk away and the Virasat-e-Khalsa museum is nearby. Naina Devi Temple, a Shakti Peeth on a hilltop, lies about 20 km off, and the Bhakra Nangal Dam about 25 km.
