The story

Bhimlat Mahadev Temple is a Shiva temple about 35 km from the Bundi district headquarters in Rajasthan, in the Aravalli range and close to Bhimlat Waterfall. It is both a place of worship and a tourist destination in the Hadoti region, drawing devotees in large numbers from the south-eastern districts of the state. Legend says the Pandavas came here during their 12-year exile and that Bhima struck the ground with his foot to find drinking water, releasing a stream that still flows; this is the origin given for the name.

The temple lies slightly below ground level and is reached by stairs. Its special feature is the constant abhisheka of Shiva by a stream of water. The natural waterfall nearby drops about 150 feet into a pool, and is at its most attractive in the rainy season, when it brings in many tourists. Temple and waterfall have both been chosen for ecotourism.
