The story

Bhim Pakora is a pair of large boulders in the forest close to Lansdowne, with one stone resting on the other. The upper boulder shifts when pushed with little force, but it has never been knocked off its base, and the arrangement has long puzzled both residents and scientists.

Local tradition credits the stones to Bhima, the Pandava famed for his strength in the Mahabharata. During the exile of the five brothers, he is said to have piled the rocks here as a show of power, and the site takes its name from him. The way the top stone moves without toppling is told as proof of his might.
