St. John's Church sits on a hilltop in Lansdowne, the Garhwal hill station that served as a retreat for British officers in colonial times. The building has whitewashed walls under a sloping red roof, and it is entered through a wooden door. Its design mixes colonial architecture with local elements.
Inside, sturdy wooden beams hold up high arched ceilings, and paintings and murals of biblical scenes line the walls. Stained-glass windows throw coloured light over rows of wooden pews, and the altar is decorated with detailed carvings and religious symbols.
