Also called the Garhwali Museum, this two-storey building near the Parade Ground in the cantonment town of Lansdowne records the history of the Indian Army's Garhwal Rifles, from the regiment's founding in the 19th century to the present. Its displays include old uniforms, weapons, ammunition, medals, photographs and soldiers' personal effects, with interactive and multimedia exhibits alongside. A rose garden surrounds the building.
The museum is named after Darwan Singh Negi, a soldier from Garhwal who became the first Indian to receive the Victoria Cross. He earned it at the Battle of Festubert, where he brought a wounded officer to safety while under intense enemy fire.
