The story

Ambu Island, also called Mehti Khade, lies in the Arabian Sea off the Mumbai coast, close to Madh Island. It can be reached only when the tide is out, by walking across a rocky neck of land that links it to the shore.

A mosque has been built on the island, and there is also a small Hindu temple and a makeshift church. Beside a small lighthouse stand the ruins of an old tower. The nearest railway station is Malad, about 15 km away.
