The story

Juhu Beach runs along the Arabian Sea in the western suburbs of Mumbai, stretching about 6 km north to Versova. It is among the best-known and busiest beaches in India. The neighbouring Juhu area is an upmarket suburb where many Bollywood actors live, so film shoots and celebrities out for a morning jog are not unusual sights.

The wide sands fill up in the evening, when people come to watch the sun go down. Vendors sell toys and local snacks such as bhel puri, pav bhaji, pani puri and gola, the flavoured crushed ice, and there are camel rides. Kite flying, football, volleyball, jogging and yoga are common pastimes. During Ganesh Chaturthi large Ganesha idols are carried here in procession and immersed in the sea.
