The story

The ISKCON temple in Juhu, Mumbai, is a Krishna temple of the International Society for Krishna Consciousness. Its founder, A. C. Bhaktivedanta Swami Prabhupada, acquired the four-acre plot now called Hare Krishna Land and guided the construction in the 1970s, and the doors opened to worshippers on 14 January 1978.

The white marble building has three storeys, a carved entrance and a shikhara rising about 100 feet. Inside are marble floors, ornate ceilings, carved pillars and murals of scenes from the Mahabharata, and the spacious hall holds large congregations. Daily life revolves around kirtan, the morning and evening arati and a Sunday feast. The complex also has a museum and library on the Hare Krishna movement, bhakti yoga classes and talks, and a vegetarian restaurant serving prasadam.
