Yerphal Caves, also spelt Yerphale, are a small set of Buddhist caves near Umbraj in Satara district, Maharashtra, roughly 25 km from the Karad Caves. They came to light only in 1979, in an area that was then thick forest roamed by wild animals.
The group is made up of a chaitya hall built on an apsidal plan, with a stupa standing inside it, along with two cells and a cave that was never completed. The caves can be placed in the early part of the 2nd century CE, within its first fifty years.
