The story

The Vande Mataram Memorial in Bhuj is dedicated to India's struggle for independence and to the people who died for it. Its galleries trace the movement against colonial rule through portraits of freedom fighters, archival photographs, personal belongings and interactive displays.

Large statues on the grounds depict Mahatma Gandhi and Subhas Chandra Bose, and exhibits cover both the setbacks and the successes of the independence movement. The memorial is open throughout the year. Bhuj's Prag Mahal, Aina Mahal and Kutch Museum, the Hiralaxmi Craft Park and the Living and Learning Design Centre are all within reach.
