Tenneti Park, also called VUDA Tenneti Park, is a coastal park in Visakhapatnam that looks out over the Bay of Bengal, the shoreline and the city. It takes its name from Tenneti Viswanadham, who fought for independence and worked as a social reformer, and it has gardens, greenery and walking paths. Locals and tourists come for picnics, family outings and photography, and the park has appeared in several films. After Cyclone Hudhud, a GITAM University alumni group paid for its renovation.
On Tenneti Park beach lies MV Maa, an 80-metre Bangladeshi merchant ship that ran aground during Cyclone Nivar in October 2020 and could not be refloated. In 2021 the state tourism minister announced a plan to turn it into a floating restaurant, but the project has been held up. The stranded vessel has itself become an attraction, popular for pre-wedding photo shoots and with filmmakers and social media creators.
