Talvriksha, also called Talvriksha Dham, is a hot spring and pilgrimage site in the hills beside the Alwar road, about 10 km from Sariska. The name joins taal, lake, and vriksha, trees, after the palm, arjuna and date trees growing by the water. Tradition says the spring burst from the earth during the penance of the sage Mandav, and its sulphur-scented water is believed to ease rheumatic pain, skin trouble and other ailments.
Men and women bathe in separate areas. Next to the spring is a temple of Bhuteshwar Mahadev with a 7-foot Shivling, said to have risen from the ground and to have been worshipped by Arjuna; it carries carved deities and a round crown brought from Kokanwadi Fort. Two small shrines honour Durga and Ganga, and the Pandavas are said to have hidden their weapons here in exile before going on to Viratnagar. Winter is the most pleasant season.
