The story

Revanasiddeshwara Betta, commonly called SRS Betta or SRS Hills, is a Shaiva holy site at Avverahalli, 15 km from Ramanagara and 60 km from Bangalore. Its elevation is 3,066 feet (935 m), and it has three temples: Renukamba at the base, Bheemeshwari halfway up, named after the Pandava Bheema, and Revanasiddeshwara at the top.

The hill is tied to Sri Revana Siddeshwara, considered a reincarnation of Jagadguru Shri Renukacharya, one of five acharyas sent in the Kali Yuga to spread Virasaiva thought. Tradition says he emerged from a linga and was sent by Shiva to spread devotion, and that he travelled widely, preaching to the sage Agastya and consecrating vast numbers of lingas in Sri Lanka. During this mission he lived for a time on this mountain and performed his anushthana here, which is why the place is still regarded as a holy shivakshetra.
