Ramgarh Vishdhari, now a tiger reserve, lies in the Aravalli hills about 45 km from Bundi on the road to Nainwa. It was set up as a sanctuary in 1982 and covers about 252 sq km of forest and grassland, acting as a buffer for the Ranthambore landscape.
Tigers and leopards live here alongside sloth bears, striped hyenas, Indian wolves, golden jackals, foxes, wild boar, nilgai and chinkara, and the grasslands draw migratory birds in winter. Safaris, birdwatching, trekking and photography are the main activities. Rajasthan Wildlife Week in October and Bundi Utsav in November are good times to combine a visit with the town.
