The story

Pfutsero is a town in Phek district, Nagaland, home mainly to Khezha- and Chokri-speaking Chakhesang Nagas, with a population of 10,371 in 2011. It is a trading centre for fruit such as kiwi, avocado and persimmon, sent out along National Highway 29. Its height brings sub-zero temperatures and frost in December and January, rare in the region.

Glory Peak, the town's highest point at over 2,100 m, looks out to Mount Saramati and is used for camping and sunrise photography. Trails lead into the surrounding hills, notably towards Kapamodzü Peak, known for wildflowers and all-round views. Himalayan cherry blossom lines streets and hillsides, usually in November, when the Cosmos Zenith Festival also marks the cosmos bloom. Sükrünye in January and Tsükhenyie in April are the main Chakhesang festivals. NST buses and shared taxis run from Kohima, and the nearest railway station and airport are at Dimapur.
