The story

Parampanthali Sree Mahadeva Temple is at Mullassery in Thrissur district, Kerala, around 20 km from Thrissur city on the route to Guruvayur through Kanjany, and 5 km from National Highway 17. Tradition counts it among the 108 Shiva temples believed to have been founded by Parashurama, an avatar of Vishnu.

Its two best-known festivals are Mahashivratri and Parampanthali Shasti. At Shasti, local Desam committees stage kavadi processions with nadaswaram music, caparisoned elephants and kettukazhcha displays, which are the main attractions. Kannan Kadu, Elanjikavu, Ayyappakudam and Shaolin Gramam are among the leading committees, along with the Shasthi committee of Mullassery Centre.
