The story

The Adat Shiva Temple is in Adat village, Thrissur district. It has two main deities, Shiva as Sri Parameswara and Maha Vishnu, each with a separate temple complex: Shiva faces east and Vishnu faces west. The Shiva temple is believed to be one of Kerala's 108 Shiva temples, said to have been installed by the sage Parasurama.

A legend of the Kurur Mana house explains the village name. A young boy who used to assist Kururamma in her daily puja to Guruvayurappan ate the food offering, and she shut him in a pot. Later it was realised that the boy was Guruvayurappan himself, and the place came to be called Adat, from the closing of the pot.
