Thiruvambadi Sri Krishna Temple in Thrissur gives equal standing to two deities, the child Krishna and the goddess Bhadrakali. There are smaller shrines to Ganesha, Sastha and Brahmarakshasa, and a separate Ganesha shrine behind the main temple. The goddess here is regarded as the younger sister of the deity of the nearby Paramekkavu temple.
The temple is best known as one of the two groups that stage Thrissur Pooram, the city's great annual festival. On Pooram day the deities are brought to the Brahmaswom Madhom, and after rituals there the procession moves to the Vadakkunnathan temple accompanied by panchavadyam, the temple orchestra. The temple's elephant Thiruvambadi Sivasundar was well known until its death in 2018.
