The story

Om Banna Dham is a roadside shrine beside the highway from Pali to Jodhpur, close to Chotila, about 20 kilometres from Pali and 53 from Jodhpur. It honours Om Singh Rathore, son of the local Thakur, who died on 5 May 1988 when his motorcycle hit a tree on the way home to Chotila, and the machine itself, a 350cc Royal Enfield Bullet registered RNJ 7773.

The story goes that police took the motorcycle to the station after the crash, only to find it back at the accident spot the next morning. Even with its fuel tank emptied and locked up, it returned to the same ditch before dawn. Villagers took this as a miracle and began worshipping the bike, and a temple grew up around it, known as Bullet Baba's temple. Hundreds of people stop each day to pray for a safe journey, believing Om Banna's spirit protects travellers.
