The National Rose Garden, whose full name is the National Indo-Africa Friendship Rose Garden, lies in Chanakyapuri in New Delhi. It was set up to mark ties of friendship and cooperation between India and Africa, and today serves as a public garden for families and rose lovers.
Its beds hold more than 60 varieties gathered from many countries, from tea roses to hybrid teas, along with rarer green and black roses. The plants are at their peak between November and January. Lawns surround the beds, and the garden is popular with photographers and with families who come for picnics.
