01 — The story

The story

Nehru Park was laid out in 1969 in memory of Jawaharlal Nehru, India's first Prime Minister. It covers about 80 acres of landscaped greenery inside Chanakyapuri, the diplomatic enclave of New Delhi, and its nearness to the embassies makes it a regular retreat for diplomats and expatriates working in the area.

The park is also a venue for community gatherings and cultural programmes. Its open-air amphitheatre is used for music concerts and art exhibitions, which draw both city residents and tourists.
