The story

Mundayur Mahadeva Temple is an ancient Shiva temple at Anjur in Thrissur district, in Mundayur village near the Thrissur–Kuttippuram road (SH-69). Shiva faces east in the main sanctum, folklore says Parashurama installed the idol, and it is one of the 108 Shiva temples of Kerala.

Tradition holds that the army of the Zamorin of Kozhikode meditated on the Shiva of Mundayur before setting out to battle, trusting him to protect them. The annual festival is a Laksharchana in the month of Meenam (March–April), and Sivarathri is celebrated each year in Kumbham (February–March).
