Also known as Randi ki Masjid, the Mubarak Begum Mosque stands in Hauz Qazi in Old Delhi, near Chawri Bazaar metro station. It was built in 1823 by Mubarak Begum, a nautch dancer and tawaif at the Mughal court who married Sir David Ochterlony, Delhi's first British resident. One account says Ochterlony built it in her honour. It is counted among three mosques in India built by women. After her death in 1878 the British government took charge of it, and it is now in the custody of the Delhi Wakf Board.
Red sandstone and lakhori bricks make up the two-storey building. Its upper floor holds a prayer chamber of three domed bays, each entered through an arch, under three domes striped red and white. Heavy rain brought down part of the central dome on 19 July 2020; after a period of closure, the mosque was open for worship again by 2024.
