The story

Masunda Lake, better known as Talav Pali, is one of the largest lakes in Thane and lies about 15 minutes' walk from Thane railway station, beside the Gadkari Rangayatan theatre and near the Zilla Parishad office. A small island in the lake holds a Shiva temple, with a statue of Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj behind it. The lake once stretched east as far as the Kopineshwar Mandir, until a new road built in the 1950s greatly reduced it.

Talav Pali is a popular place to visit at night. Boating is offered on the water, there is a fish aquarium and shops selling fish tanks, and many restaurants and food stalls face the lake.
