01 — The story

Mannalamkunnu, also spelt Mandalamkunnu, is a beach on the coast of Thrissur district in Kerala, within Punnayur panchayat. It lies about 10 km from Chavakkad and roughly 40 km from Thrissur. Punnayurkulam, birthplace of the writers Nalappat Narayana Menon, Balamani Amma and Kamala Das, is about 3 km away.

The beach hosts the Mannalamkunnu Beach Festival every year, and a children's park was opened here in 2020. A local development committee, the Mandalamkunnu beach vikasana samithi, looks after the beach and its facilities.
