01 — The story

The story

The Maha Mrityunjaya Temple in Nagaon is a new Shiva temple, completed in February 2021. Its centrepiece is a 126-foot Shivalinga, described as the tallest in the world, finely carved and set within green, quiet grounds.

The temple takes its name from the Maha Mrityunjaya mantra, which devotees chant inside. The mantra is linked with life and liberation and is believed to bring healing to body and mind, so many visitors come to join the prayers or simply sit in the hall.
