The story

Komuravelli Mallanna Swamy Temple stands on a hill in Komuravelli village, Siddipet district, near Siddipet on the Rajiv Rahadari and about 85 km from Hyderabad; a railway station opened in 2026 to serve it. The deity worshipped here is Mallanna, also called Mallikarjuna Swamy, a form of Shiva whom Maharashtrians call Khandoba, worshipped with his consorts Golla Kethamma and Medalamma. Priests of the Linga Balija community tend the inner sanctum and its 500-year-old clay image, while Oggu Pujaris from the Kuruma and Yadava communities lead the folk rituals.

Mallanna's story is not written down but sung in Oggu Katha ballads. Devotees make offerings through the Oggu Pujaris, who draw a patnam, a large floor design in turmeric and coloured powders, before the deity. The Mallanna Jatara runs from Sankranti to Ugadi, with Sundays in that season especially busy, and crowds come for the Pedda Patnam at Maha Shivaratri and the Agni Gundaalu festival on the Sunday before Ugadi. Many also visit the nearby Konda Pochamma temple.
