The story

Holy Trinity Church stands in Bolarum, in the Secunderabad Cantonment, and today belongs to the Church of South India. It was built in 1847 with money from Queen Victoria's own purse, on land given by the Nizam's government, and served British army officers and their families. Its Victorian Gothic interior keeps the original pews, pulpit, bell and altar stained glass of 1904, and 44 memorial tablets recall soldiers and others who died while serving with the Hyderabad Contingent.

A pipe organ by Misquith & Co. of Madras was installed in 1903 through public subscription; it has 392 pipes, 112 of them wooden, and is still played at Sunday services. Queen Elizabeth II attended a service here on 20 November 1983, her 36th wedding anniversary, and unveiled a tablet that remains in the church, which is why it is also called the Queen's Church. The neighbouring cemetery is still in use; its oldest grave is that of army officer John Alexander, who died in 1851.
