The story

The Sri Venkateswara Swamy Temple at Jamalapuram, close to Errupalem in Telangana's Khammam district, is dedicated to Lord Balaji. The deity here is held to be swayambhu, a form that appeared of its own accord, and the temple is popularly known as Telangana Chinna Tirupathi.

Local legend links the site to the sage Jabali, who is said to have performed penance at a spot named Suchi Gutta and received the blessing of Lord Venkateswara. The shrine appears to be very old, and it was renovated under Krishnadevaraya of the Vijayanagara Empire. Around the main sanctum are smaller shrines to Padmavathi Ammavaru, Alamelu Ammavaru, Shiva, Ganesh, Ayyappa and Hanuman.
