Karikkode Bhagavathy Temple stands in Karikkode village near Thodupuzha in Idukki district. The building is believed to be about 460 years old. Tradition holds that a Vadakkumkoor raja, after long penance and prayer, brought the Kodungallur Bhagavathy to this temple.
The presiding goddess is Bhadrakali, in a west-facing image of the kind called shilakkannadi. Three pujas are held each day following the Kaviyadu tantra, and Shiva and Ganapathi are worshipped as sub-deities. The annual festival takes place on the Ashwathy and Bharani days of the Malayalam month of Kumbham.
