Kanimangalam Sastha Temple is in Kanimangalam, Thrissur city, with Sastha as its main deity, though here he is worshipped as Brihaspati, teacher of the gods.
The temple plays a leading part in the Thrissur Pooram. Kanimangalam Sastha is the first of the poorams to enter the Vadakkunnathan Temple and is regarded as the protector of all the goddesses who take part. Because he arrives first, tradition gives him the task of checking the arrangements made for the other poorams.
