The story

Kamala Nehru Park covers about four acres at the top of Malabar Hill, as part of the Hanging Gardens complex. Opened in 1952, it is named after Kamala Nehru, freedom fighter and wife of Jawaharlal Nehru, and is run by the municipal corporation. It is one of the city's best-loved gardens, especially with children.

Its best-known feature is the Old Woman's Shoe, a structure based on the nursery rhyme, designed by Soli Arceivala. After a renovation the park reopened on 22 February 2018 with more play areas themed on nursery rhymes in Marathi, Hindi and English. From the edge of the garden there are views down over Marine Drive, the curve of lights known as the Queen's Necklace.
