Gurdwara Sri Hatt Sahib stands in Sultanpur Lodhi, Kapurthala district, on the spot where the young Guru Nanak held a job in the provisions store of Nawab Daulat Khan. The post came through his brother-in-law, Jairam, and Sikh tradition remembers Nanak as an honest keeper of the Nawab's supplies. The shrine lies just south of the old fortified building that resembles a serai.
The gurdwara is a hall built around a square sanctum. Over the sanctum rises a square room with broad arched copings, capped by a lotus-shaped dome and a gilded finial. Its best-known relics are thirteen polished stones of different sizes, kept in a glass case, which are believed to be the weights Guru Nanak used in the store. The Guru Granth Sahib is installed in the hall, kirtan is sung daily, and Guru Nanak's Gurpurab and Vaisakhi draw the largest gatherings.
