The story

Gurdwara Sri Guru Ka Bagh is in the town of Sultanpur Lodhi in Kapurthala district. It marks the house where Guru Nanak and his wife, Mata Sulakhani, first lived after their marriage, and where both their sons were born: Baba Sri Chand and, later, Baba Lakhmi Das.

The present building is a low hall of marble topped by a dome faced with golden tiles, with a cantilevered balcony on the front and inlaid stone panels in pietra dura. Inside, the Guru Granth Sahib sits at the centre of a simple hall. An old well, the khuh, survives on the premises; its water is said to have been used for cooking langar in Guru Nanak's day. Kirtan and langar continue daily, and Baisakhi and Gurpurab bring large crowds.
