The story

Enamakkal Lake is a freshwater lake at Enamakkal in Thrissur district, covering about 25 square kilometres. The Keecheri and Viyyoor rivers flow into it.

Its western side is protected by a bund conceived by Sakthan Thampuran, who in an 1802 letter to the Collector of Malabar proposed it as a way to keep out salt water. On 9 December 2018 a steel bridge was opened across the lake, linking Manalur and Enamakkal.
