The story

Dr Ram Manohar Lohia Park is a 76-acre park in Vipin Khand, Gomti Nagar, Lucknow, developed by the Lucknow Development Authority in memory of the socialist Dr Ram Manohar Lohia. Four massive columns, each 25 metres tall, reflect his four-pillar principle, and walls along a 500-metre semi-circular path are engraved with his thoughts; six further columns record the lives of figures such as Karpuri Thakur and Raj Narayan.

A 1 km main path of Kota stone with a central strip of seasonal flowers crosses the park. Behind Lohia's idol is a lake of 15,277 square metres with four floating fountains. There are synthetic and sand jogging tracks, an acupressure track, a fish and duck pond, children's swings, a 2-acre flower garden with a baradari, an amphitheatre and more than 50 species of trees, almost 15,000 in all.
