All Saints Garrison Church stands in the Cantonment of Lucknow. A modest church was first put up here in 1860 and was enlarged as the cantonment grew and more troops arrived, until in 1908 it was decided that a much bigger building was needed. The new church, renamed All Saints New Garrison Church, was designed by the British engineer Jones Ransom, who also drew up Saint Mungo's Church of Scotland in the same cantonment. After he went back to England, Lishman completed the work under the architect John Baggs.
The building cost Rs. 91,000 and takes its inspiration from Magdalen College, Oxford. A tall bell tower rises over the main door on the west side, though it ended up shorter than first planned, and the side walls were made thinner and lower to save money. Inside, every bench has a niche at the upper back for holding a gun.
