Dodital, a freshwater lake in Uttarakhand's Uttarkashi district, sits at an altitude of 3,657 metres (11,998 ft). It takes its name from Dodi, a sage who meditated there.
The lake is the source of the Assi Ganga, which flows down from it to meet the Bhagirathi at Gangori, close to the town of Uttarkashi. Freshwater trout live in the lake.
