The story

Dadra and Nagar Haveli Wildlife Sanctuary lies in Dadra and Nagar Haveli, now part of a combined Union Territory with Daman and Diu. It includes two visitor areas south of Silvassa, the district headquarters.

Satmalia Deer Park is near Khanvel village on the Silvassa–Khanvel road, 12 km south of Silvassa. It shelters antelope and deer, among them blackbuck, chinkara, chital, sambar and nilgai, along with Indian peafowl, flameback woodpeckers and thrushes. Close by, about 10 km south of Silvassa, is the Vasona Lion Safari, a park created to conserve the Asiatic lion, which also keeps pythons.
