The story

Chharodi Lake lies near Chharodi village on the Sarkhej–Gandhinagar Highway in Ahmedabad. In March 2020 the Gujarat government handed the lake plot to the Ahmedabad Municipal Corporation free of charge, to be developed as a public space and for water storage. Work began on 11 September 2020, encroachments were cleared in March 2023, and Union Home Minister Amit Shah opened the ₹5.26 crore project on 21 May 2023. An amusement park and garden are planned for the future.

The lake covers 42,593 square metres, can hold 167.70 million litres of water and is linked to other lakes. A 716-metre walking track runs around it, and a gallery box provides a place to sit and look out over the water. There are two pay-and-use toilets and parking for cars and two-wheelers on three sides.
