The story

Charan Paduka is a sacred site near Badrinath where Lord Vishnu is believed to have left his footprints while walking the earth. Hindu belief treats these marks as holy and holds that they bless those who come to see them, so pilgrims climb to the spot to pray and make offerings.

The approach is a rugged mountain path that runs through forest and past small waterfalls, with Himalayan peaks on every side. The climb is regarded as part of the pilgrimage, and the top gives wide views over the surrounding mountains.
