Bitangad is a fort in Igatpuri taluka of Nashik district, about 130 km from Mumbai. It sits on the Kalsubai range near the village of Taked, some 22 km east of the town of Ghoti. Little is known of its past beyond its use as a watch tower.
From the Hanuman temple at Taked a short walk leads to the base village of Bitanwadi. The ascent then begins with an easy half-hour walk followed by another half hour of steep, technical rock climbing. No real walls or bastions remain on top, only some caves and cisterns cut into the rock.
